Stacey Bywater, an 18-year-old nursery nurse from Holmfirth near West Yorkshire in England, will never forget last Saturday (August 7, 2010), because that was the day she won a £1,117,779
UK lottery jackpot.
The lucky teen, who has only been allowed to buy lottery tickets since she turned 18, could not believe her luck when she realised that she had won a million pound lotto jackpot, which is more money then she could have imagined.
But unlike most teenagers who would be tempted to spend their newly won lotto dosh on exotic holidays, jewelry and fancy cars, Stacey has remained firmly grounded and surprised many by her willingness to put her family first.
According to reports from the English papers, the teenage lottery millionaire is planning to help her family (her parents and her older sister) move out of their tiny council house into a larger house by putting down a sizable deposit.
Stacey also said that she would use some of her winnings to help her sister who lost her job recently.
But after Stacey has helped her family, she told journalists that she'll spend some lotto cash on herself. And the #1 item on her wish list is a nifty Mini Cooper soft-top, followed by a property somewhere that she can rent out.
And in terms of buying a house for herself, Stacey says she is more than happy to keep living at home with her mum and dad. 'I'm only 18 and I don't want to leave them yet,' she said. 'I don't think it has sunk in that I'm a millionaire.'
