Graham Pyatt of Mexborough, South Yorkshire has always enjoyed playing the
UK National Lottery and even opened an account on the lotto website to buy and check his tickets. But he missed some big winning numbers.
In fact, it was four days before 64-year-old Graham realised he'd won £1.5 million in a UK National Lottery draw, and he didn't find out until he went online. Graham only found out about his windfall when he logged on to buy new tickets.
'I always choose one lucky dip but didn't check my UK National lottery account until Thursday,' said the
lucky lottery winner. 'When it said I was a winner I couldn't believe it. I got my son to come round and confirm that it was true.'
Graham worked in power stations in and around Doncaster for almost 30 years as a laboratory assistant. Now retired, he suffers from mobility and breathing issues. However, his first concern is with putting his family before himself.
With his wife Jean, the couple have a son Steven, who Graham told reporters he wants to help. 'I want to use some of the money to make sure that Steven and his family are well looked after. That will make me very happy,' said Graham.
Unlike most UK National Lottery winners, given his condition Graham will not be able to travel around the world, but he is unfazed by this. The lotto winner says he's only too happy to stay home with his wife in his beloved South Yorkshire.
Thanks to the UK National Lottery's online facility, lottery fans based in the UK and Isle of Man can now quickly and easily buy lotto tickets online, saving themselves the hassle of trekking to lottery outlets to buy tickets and cash them in.
