Will Wayne Rooney's recent alleged infidelity cause his marriage to
break up, or will things blow over the way they did for other soccer celebs such
as John Terry and Peter Crouch?
Yesterday we predicted that it would only be a matter of hours that UK bookie
sites opened betting markets for the future of the Rooney's marriage, and - lo
and behold - William Hill already has odds posted.
The site has 6/4 that the Manchester United star will face divorce
proceedings by Christmas, while odds of 66/1 have also been posted that he will
move in with the kiss-and-tell hooker, Jenny Thompson this year.
Speculation was running high that problems on the home front would keep
Rooney in the UK while the England team flew to Switzerland to play a Euro 2012
qualifier.
However, the player packed up his troubles and joined the team on the flight
to Basle. He will train with the rest of the 22-man squad in Switzerland today.
William Hill has odds of 9/1 that Rooney will join a club abroad during the
January transfer window.
In the meantime, Rooney's sponsorship deal with Nike seems to be solid, after
a spokesman for the company said that they will continue to back him.
"We have worked with Wayne for seven years and he continues to be a Nike
athlete," said the spokesman. "This is a private matter for Wayne and his family
and we have no further comment to make at this time."
Nike also stuck by Tiger Woods while his marriage fell apart following a
similar sex scandal.
Rooney's deals with groups such as Coca Cola, Nike and EA Sports have helped
him built a mega fortune worth over GBP 35 million.
