Sega Online Casino Halts Operations

by Renee Israel

Sega Casino has stopped all operations

It was less than a year ago that Sega Online Casino was launched, causing a lot of excitement in the online gambling industry.

However, it has recently been learned that the casino, the online casino arm of video game giant, Sega Corporation, has faded quietly into the background, and will cease to operate in the near future.

Existing customers have been asked to withdraw their funds before the site closes permanently, although no date has been given.

A message on the site's homepage states:

"We are no longer accepting registration/deposits from your jurisdiction. Existing customers - if you ware an existing SEGA Games customer, please click here to access your account to withdraw your funds. All remaining funds will be automatically credited back to your deposit method, effective September 15th."

Players are also given the opportunity to withdraw immediately, or to connect live chat customer support from the site.

Sega Casino was launched with the backing of much publicity through press releases and internet hype and for a while managed to gain the attention of online gamblers seeking a site with something extra.

The site promised over 125 games, including slots and blackjack, as well as themed SEGA games, unique to the casino, where titles such as Virtua Fighter and the House of the Dead were incorporated into exciting slots entertainment.

The same cessation of operation notice appears on the Sega Poker site that was launched together with Sega Casino.

Both sites were licensed by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission.
