Michael Elliot of Brechin become the biggest winner in the history of the New Football Pools, after landing himself the massive prize of £3 million.
Sportech, owner and operator of the game, said that Elliott correctly predicted the outcome of eight football matches over the course of three days.
The Football Pools calls for players to select eight matches that they predict will end in score draws from ten selections presented to them.
This is the biggest payout in the 87 year history of the game, according to Sportech.
Jon Sheehy, the director of the New Football Pools, said: "This is truly an historic moment for The New Football Pools in Britain. Indeed, 2010 is turning out to be a bumper year, having already created millionaires north and south of the border."
"Our players have enjoyed some huge payouts since we merged Littlewoods and Vernons in 2007 and opened up new channels of play," he said. "We are seeing an ever-increasing number of sports bettors playing our games as they offer such fantastic value."
Michael Elliott was lost for words following his win, but said: "I cannot believe it!"
"This is a dream come true," he managed to add. "To say this is a life-changing experience would be the understatement of the year. I have played the Pools for many years and have won three times before although my biggest previous win was £32. We are still in a state of shock and it's going to take a little time before everything finally sinks in."
Elliott's selections included matches in the Scottish and English leagues, as well as the Spanish league.
"These are incredibly exciting times for all of us connected with The New Football Pools and to create a triple millionaire really is fantastic. We are delighted for Michael," said Sheehy.
