After beating the Pune Warriors in Navi Mumbai on Wednesday with a 21-run victory, the Mumbai Indians are now at the top of the Indian Premier League table.
This is an excellent position to be in as the team meets the Delhi Daredevils on May 7th, for the 49th IPL match of the season.
The Mumbai Indians have 14 points from nine games in the IPL, and are ahead of the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Chennai Super Kings by two points.
Pune, which won their first two games in the Indian Premier League, have gone on to lose seven consecutive games- the last to the Mumbai Indians - and are currently at the bottom of the table.
In a spot of sensationalism in an otherwise mundane IPL4, the Mumbai Indians have denied making a complaint over the nature of the pitch in their game against the Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Masingh Stadium late last month.
"Mumbai Indians have not lodged any complaint to the IPL on the nature of the pitch. It is disconcerting to note that Rajasthan Royals and a senior official of the Rajasthan Cricket Association are trying to sensationalise this issue," said the team in an official statement.
The exact comments made by Mumbai about the pitch were related again in the statement as such: "It was a tough pitch, different to what we played on in Mumbai. Don't want to take the credit away from Rajasthan who bowled and fielded well..."
The Mumbai Indians meet the Daredevils in Mumbai on Saturday, while other weekend matches include the Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Kochi Tuskers Kerala (50th IPL) in Bangalore on Sunday.
Sunday will also see the Kings XI Punjab play the Pune Warriors in Mohali, while the Rajasthan Royals meet the Chennai Super Kings in Jaipur on May 9th.
