On Saturday May 14th, the Kolkata Knight Riders travel to Bangalore to meet
the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 58th match of this season's Indian Premier
League cricket tournament.
For the Knight Riders, this is a particularly crucial game as they are only
one win away from the play offs of the IPL.
The team has seven wins from eleven fixtures and is currently ranked third
position on the IPL points table with 14 points.
Another win from the next three group league games will take the Kolkata
Knight Riders to the top of the IPL points table.
The coach for the KKR, Dav Whatmore said: "It's a wonderful feeling."
"The way we have been able to shape our fortunes and be in a situation where
we don't have to depend on favourable results from other teams show that enough
work has been done in the body of the tournament," he said.
The Knight Riders have never made it the IPL play offs as they have never won
more than seven games in previous tournaments.
Crucial Match this Weekend
According to Whatmore, the next three fixtures are critical, and victory in
this weekend's match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore is particularly
crucial.
The Knight Riders come into the match confident after a string of wins and,
according to the coach, their performance in the last few weeks has had an
excellent effect on the overall environment.
The match will take place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday and
Whatmore assured fans that his team would go for the jugular of the opposition
team as early as possible in the match in order to gain the upper hand.
"We will pick everyone's brains in the team to find ways to get him out
quickly," he said, speaking of the opposition.
