La Liga Odds For Relegation Teams In Final Week

by Anton Johan

Real Sociedad vs Getcafe
La Liga betting fans will have their hands full this weekend trying to pick the teams that will stave off relegation and those that succumb to it. Teams like Getcafe, that have only played in La Liga for seven seasons. Will they experience an eighth?

That is indeed one of the questions La Liga betting fans and pundits alike have been asking since the club improved its chances of avoiding relegation by beating Osasuna 2-0 last time out. But how they will fare on Saturday against Real Sociedad is the more important question. Let's examine the La Liga odds.

Real Sociedad will start as the favourites on Saturday

According to leading Irish online sportsbook Paddy Power, Real Sociedad will start as the favourites (5/4) on Saturday, when they face Getcafe (15/8), who will no doubt be determined to do everything in their power to avoid being pushed out of Spain's premier football division.

That said, in an interesting twist of fate, Real Sociedad are also on the cusp of being relegated and too will undoubtedly bring out their big guns in an attempt to stay in La Liga. But Getcafe and Real Sociedad are not alone, because on the weekend Zaragoza, Deportivo, Osasuna and Mallorca will also be competing for their La Liga lives.

In fact, with just a two point difference between each of these six teams, any one of them could join Hercules C.F. and U.D. Almeria on the 'relegation railway.'

Zaragoza will have to beat Levante on Saturday to avoid relegation

Zaragoza, who are currently 18th in the La Liga standings and two places behind Getcafe, will have to beat Levante on Saturday for a chance at avoiding relegation, while Osasuna who are currently in 15th place and one point ahead of Getcafe, will have to take down their opponents Villarreal to ensure they are still in La Liga next season.

Although this may be a tall order considering Villareal are fourth in La Liga and by far the superior team. Then there's Mallorca, who will have to beat Atlético Madrid on Saturday to stay in La Liga land. But Atlético Madrid have their own reason to win on Saturday, as they Sevilla F.C. and Athletic Club are each on 55 points, and would like to snag the fifth place finish in the league.
