The result of tonight's highly anticipated showdown between Bundesliga club and
hosts
Borussia Monchengladbach and top-rated 2nd Bundesliga club VFL
Bochum will result in loads of tears from their respective fans, no matter what
the result.
The reason is that Borussia Monchengladbach have to win tonight's
match to avoid being relegated to 2nd Bundesliga, while VFL Bochum have to do
the same to be promoted to the prestigious Bundesliga, which is Germany's first
tier football division.
Fans will shed tears of joy and sadness at the final whistle
If Borussia Monchengladbach are triumphant by the final whistle, many of their
fans will shed tears of joy. But if they are not, they will shed tears of
sadness, and the same can be said for VFL Bochum. So there is no doubting the
importance of the game.
Which is why so many Bundesliga betting fans
will be wagering on tonight's big game at leading online sports betting sites
such as top-rated Irish sportsbook, Paddy Power, which has laid Borussia
Monchengladbach as the large 4/7 betting favorites.
Monchengladbach are not strangers to pressure-laden games
One of the reasons Monchengladbach are being favored is that the Bundesliga side
is no stranger to tough, pressure-laden games despite their lowly position in
the standings. In fact, according to the team's midfielder Marco Reus, they are
very confident.
'We have had pressure for the whole second half of the season.
Almost every game was a final, so the relegation play-off is no different, he
said. 'Bochum are strong, but we are better. We have the better individual
players and will therefore prevail.'
But with so much at stake, Bundesliga betting fans will be foolish to
discount the chances of VFL Bochum, despite their underdog status. Said Bochum
vice-captain Marcel Maltritz, 'Although we are outsiders, we have a very good
team against Gladbach.'
