Bwin.Party, the online gambling entity, has announced that it has signed a
three year deal to become the official sponsors of the EuroLeague basketball
competition.
This tournament is one of the most important on the calendar among
professional basketball teams on the continent, and has a huge following of
viewers across Europe
As part of the three year deal, bwin.party will stream all the matches live
to thirty European countries where the group has sportsbetting customers, who
will be able to enjoy all the action.
According to bwin.party, the EuroLeague basketball competition is "the most
important professional club basketball competition in Europe." The group
believes that the deal will "significantly broaden the footprint of Bwin.com
within European basketball."
The Co-chief Executive Officer for Bwin.Party, Norbert Teufelberger, said
that he was proud to announce the EuroLeague Basketball agreement which
"represents a perfect match to our long lasting relationship with the
International Basketball Federation (FIBA), the world governing body for
basketball."
"This makes Bwin.com an even stronger brand as we will now cover both club
basketball with the EuroLeague and the national teams through our FIBA
partnership," he said. "Basketball, along with football and motorcycle racing,
is one of the three pillars of our sport sponsorship strategy."
Most important basketball competition in Europe
The importance of the deal was also stressed by the President
and Chief Executive Officer for EuroLeague basketball, Jordi Bertomeu. "It is a
big step for EuroLeague Basketball to welcome Bwin.com as partner until 2014,"
he said.
"The most important basketball competition in Europe now gets
the most important sportsbetting brand, bwin.com, as a supporter to take club
basketball's popularity in Europe to an even higher level."
