The growing potential of the European gambling market was seen this week,
with the announcement that William Hill, the leading British gambling group,
will be entering the Italian market later this month.
William Hill, which boasts top quality land and online gambling units,
said that it would be launching its WilliamHill.it online casino, thanks to a
license that was granted to the group by the Italian gambling regulator,
Autonoma Dei Monopoli di Stato.
The online gaming license was granted to William Hill by the AAMS, which
means that the group is now ready to officially launch the site, which will take
place towards the end of July.
To support this entry into the Italian market, William Hill has started a
marketing campaign to familiarize the Italian gambling public with its brand.
The new online casino has been in the development process for over a year,
and the group said that it also plans to expand its services further in the
future.
Italian gamblers will be able to enjoy William Hill's quality online casino
products for now, but will also benefit from poker, bingo and sports betting in
the future.
According to William Hill, the site has been designed to compete with rivals
on a domestic and international level, with the intention of grabbing a
significant slice of the Italian betting industry which is estimated to be worth
over €6 billion.
Excited about Italian Venture
The Chief Executive Officer for William Hill Online, Henry Birch
said about the launch:
"We are really excited about our Italian venture."
"The combination of a high passion for sports and gaming makes
Italy one of the most important markets in our international expansion plans."
"We've spent a lot of time developing the site and ensuring it
conforms to the AAMS regulatory requirements," he said. "We're delighted with
the outcome of the site and we believe it will be a big hit with Italian
players."
