This weekend saw the start of the German Bundesliga, when Borussia Dortmund
kicked off against Hamburg at Signal Iduna Park.
Unibet sports betting site is in on the action with plenty of great
markets for Germany's most exciting football competition.
The favourites at the moment to win the Bundesliga are Bayern Munich with
odds of 1.55. The team is expected to do particularly well under the leadership
of new coach Jupp Heynckes after they let Louis van Gall go last season.
However, it is expected that the young Dortmund will put a lot of pressure on
the more experienced Bayern, both as defending champs and with a promising team.
Odds for them winning are 5.00.
"Everyone thought that it was too early for the young Dortmund squad to
challenge for the title last season, but they proved all the experts wrong,"
said the Head of Unibet Sportsbook, Erik Backlund. "This year all eyes will be
on Dortmund and that pressure, together with the Champions League participation,
will put a lot of strain on the team."
Other Good Teams in the Bundesliga
But the Bundesliga is not only about Dortmund and Bayern, and
there are other teams who could challenge their position anytime during this
unpredictable competition.
Leverkusen, for example, are priced at 12.00, while Schalke 04
carry odds of 22.00. Unibet is offering odds of 25.00 for the 08/09 champs
Wolfsburg to win this season's Bundesliga.
"The pre-season speculations have been all about Bayern Munich
and Borussia Dortmund," said Backland, "but I wouldn't be surprised if a team
like Stuttgart can repeat their success from the 06/07 season and cause yet
another surprise.
Buckland said that Stuttgart's manager, Bruno Labbadia, saved
the team from relegation last year and will thus be looking to build on that
momentum.
