England vs India 3rd Cricket Test Preview

by Ryan D. Jaeger

England vs India

Despite captaining his side to a resounding victory in the ICC Cricket World Cup earlier this year, Indian national cricket team skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is having a nightmare time of it after his visiting side lost the first two of four 5-day Test matches against England, with a third set to start on Wednesday at Edgbaston in Warwickshire.

England vs India 3rd Cricket Test betting preview

If Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his men cannot turn the tables on the England this week, it will mark his first Test series defeat since being appointed India captain, and no doubt shake his and his team's confidence to the core. However, it has to be said that India have been unlucky so far this series, while England have been playing like a team possessed.

So the big betting question is whether India can fight back in the 3rd cricket test to make it 2-1? For our betting buck, the answer is no. England are playing far too well and have the advantage of home crowds and venues. And cricket oddsmakers agree, as most - including top online sportsbook Paddy Power - have laid England as the 6/5 favorites.

England boasts great batting, bowling and fielding

Looking at England, going into the 3rd Test the talented Ravi Bopara will replace the injured Jonathan Trott, who will be sorely missed, considering his stonking form of late. But except for him, the England squad is pretty much the same one that beat India in the previous tests, and one that boasts great all-round batting, bowling and fielding capability.

India, on the other hand, could end up needing all the help they can get. Their lack of form was acutely noticeable in their recent game against Northamptonshire, which does not bode well for the 3rd Test. That said, the tried and tested opening batting duo of Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir could put the pressure on England, and keep it there.

So with both teams equally motivated to win, this Test match should be a real nail-biter.
