The player protection and e-gambling standards authority, eCOGRA, announced
this week that it has achieved two significant milestones in its quest to be
rated among the top authorities on an international scale.
The group qualified as a testing agency with the Italian gambling
regulator AAMS and also received accreditation from the Geneva based
international standards authority, ISO.
eCOGRA received ISO approval after it was found that its systems met the
stringent standers set by this international body. By achieving this type of
accreditation, eCOGRA now meets requirements to become a testing agency in a
number of remote gambling licensing jurisdictions in Europe.
In addition, the Amministrazione Autonoma Monopoli di Stato (Autonomous
Administration of the State Monopolies) of Italy has given eCOGRA the thumbs up
to be a testing and monitoring agency for e-gambling platforms and RNG's to
check whether they comply with the technical standards that are issued by the
Italian body.
The Italian accreditation offers eCOGRA much wider scope to offer its
services to operators who are interested in joining the Italian gambling market.
eCOGRA Continues to Pursue Testing Agency Approval
"Promoting the values of commitment and self-regulation, and
preparing remote gambling companies for the national regulatory systems now
evolving, remains a critical part of our business, and eCOGRA will continue to
pursue testing agency approval in other emerging jurisdictions to ensure that we
can provide a full service offering which meets all of our client's regulatory
needs," said the Chief Executive Officer of eCOGRA, Andrew Beveridge.
He added that the group will be announcing further
jurisdictional approvals in the near future. He also encouraged existing and
new clients who are interested in the regulatory requirements of the existing
licensing jurisdictions to approach eCOGRA.
Beveridge congratulated his IT and audit staff and paid
compliments to their professional commitment to achieve the highest possible
international standards. eCOGRA's auditors have Big 4 auditing experience.
This year, it is expected that eCOGRA perform around 100
compliance reviews against its own eGAP requirements, as well as those of the
European Gaming and Betting Association and various other jurisdictional
regulations.
