Singer Beyonce Knowles and her husband music mogul husband Jay-Z announced
that she was pregnant at the recent MTV Music Video Awards, and ever since then,
the showbiz industry has been abuzz with speculation about the new prince or
princess, and who her godfather and godmother will be.
In fact, as soon as her pregnancy became public, online bookmakers
including Paddy Power opened betting markets such as the name of the baby, sex
of the baby, multiple birth and most recently, who will be the baby's godmother
and godfather.
Current Beyonce odds show the favourite names are still Matthew and Shawn or
Shawna at 4/1, followed by Corey at 5/1 and Colleek at 6/1. Outsider choices
are Grammy and Ga-ga at 200/1 and Lay Z at 250/1.
And when it comes to the baby's sex, Paddy Power Beyonce odds are the same at
5/6 on male and female. If the couple gives birth to twins, Paddy Power will
pay out 33/1, while triplets will earn punters 100/1.
Will Kanye West be Beyonce Baby Godfather?
Rapper Kanye West, who is a friend of the couple, is a definite favourite to be
named the baby's godfather at odds of 1/3. He is so sure that he will be
honoured as godfather that he reportedly told friends that he was over the moon
by the thought of it.
A source reportedly told The Sun: "Kanye is as
excited about the baby as Beyonce and Jay-Z. He's been saying he's going to
be godfather and is absolutely thrilled. It will be a huge honour for him."
When it comes to the perfect godmother, bookmakers believe that
Beyonce will play it safer by choosing someone closer to home. Her sister,
Solange Piaget Knowles seems to be the her number one choice, with odds of 1/5
that she will be named the baby's godmother. Other choices are Gwyneth Paltrow
at 5/4, Kelly Rowland at 4/1 and Rihanna at 5/1. Going a little further afield,
Paddy Power has also named Madonna as a choice at 33/1, Victoria Beckham at 40/1
and Alexandra Burke at 50/1.
Beyonce and Jay-Z recently enjoyed the atmosphere at the men's
final of the US Open tennis competition, with the Daily Mail reporting
that they were "clearly in a state of pre-baby bliss, laughing and smiling
throughout the nail-biting match between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic." The
singer reportedly "kept her hands folded protectively over her stomach
throughout the game, giving no glimpse of her baby bump."
