A new application was launched by Sky Bet sports betting group this week
which combines social networking with English Premier League football
predictions.
The Football Prediction application, named Call of the Nation, was launched
by the online betting group Sky Bet, and is used as an app for football betting
fans on Facebook.
Working off Sky Bet's Facebook fan page, the app is uploaded to the site and
incorporates videos of more than 300 football fans. These fans give their
predictions regarding a particular Premier League match, which are then recorded
and added to the video.
Fans of both teams of the upcoming Premier League match are filmed making
their predictions about the game, who they believe will win, and why.
These filmed fans are then asked to make a prediction regarding the first
goal scorer, the final score, man of the match and so forth which are included
in the video, and then posted through the Sky Bet football Facebook app
on the group's fan page.
The scoreline predictions are collated through the application and the
general consensus on the outcome of the match based on these predictions is
given. The app also provides links to the latest football betting odds on Sky
Bet's sports betting site.
Call of the Nation Powered by Sky Bet
The Call of the Nation football prediction app also includes videos
predictions made by Sky Bet sports betting group's professional team of experts
who help fans with their wagering dilemmas ahead of the big match.
The idea of the new football prediction app is to allow fans to share the
video with their friends on Facebook, and also follow what other fans from both
sides of the fence are saying about the upcoming match.
The use of Facebook for gambling interests is not a new one, but the football
prediction application is an original idea which has never been done.
The Public Relations Manager for Sky Bet, Helen Jacob explained why the new
Call of the Nation football prediction application should prove to be
successful.
"Social media is the best way of interacting with our customers, who love to
tell us and their mates how they're calling the weekend's big matches," she
said. "The video element adds an extra dimension and acts as a kind of visual
fan forum, allowing fans to find out their mates' views as well as having a
laugh on their dodgy on-camera performances!"
