Leading UK online gaming operation Bet365 is on a roll, as it comes into the
New Year on the back of excellent results for 2011, and the fact that company
founder, Denise Coates, was listed on Queen Elizabeth II's coveted New Year
Honours list.
Coates was named for a CBE for services rendered to the community and to the
business, and praised her entire team at Bet365. "This would not have been
possible," she said, "without the fantastic support and commitment of everybody
at the company."
Bet365's Great Performance for 2011
More importantly, however, Bet365 reported an excellent
performance in 2011, a particularly good year for Bet365
with a 22% rise in takings over the previous year. Revenues reached £501 million
and bets increased by a notable 58% leaving the company with a pre-tax profit of
£91 million, in spite of having to make up for losses arising from the company's
stake in Stoke City FC.
As such, it will be interesting to see what Bet365 will achieve in 2012. Quite a
lot no doubt, judging by where Bet365 started out from and where it has ended
up.
Bet365 started in a mobile building in a car park, and is now the largest
non-government employer in the Stoke-On-Trent area and provides more than 900
jobs for people from the environs.
It is also the only major bookmaking company still operating from mainland UK
(Ladbrokes and William Hill moved out last year).
The company is known to be a leader in the UK for online sports betting and
has an estimated 6 million online players from around the world.
Bet365 has also been a major contributor to charity. Last year alone the
company donated more than £400,000 to various public causes with the major chunk
going, not surprisingly, to a charity that promotes responsible gambling. Other
beneficiaries included children and the disabled.
In the bookmaking business, Bet365 has a rock solid reputation for fairness
and security with online customers from 200 countries in addition to their UK
live betting clientele.
Bet365's online betting software and interface is user-friendly and offers
one of the biggest varieties of betting options on just about every sport there
is.
