The FA Cup match between Birmingham City and Wolves is scheduled to be
held at St. Andrews on Saturday, January 7th. Kick off will take place at12.30
pm at Birmingham City's home grounds.
During last week's match against Peterborough, Birmingham City observed a
minute's silence in honor of Gary Ablett, a former defender of the club who died
recently at the age of 46 from cancer, and are expected to do the same before
they play the Wolves on Saturday.
Birmingham Pays Tribute to Gary Ablett
A former defender for Everton and Liverpool, Ablett suffered from
non-Hodgkin's lymphoma for over a year. The team offered rich tributes to the
defender before its match against Peterborough.
According to the club, their thoughts and the thoughts of everyone remotely
associated with the club are with the deceased defender, his family members, and
friends.
Known for his friendly nature, Ablett played more than 100 matches with
Birmingham City during a span of 3 years from 1996 to 1999. The club has stated
that Ablett fought the disease fiercely for more than a year, just as he had
played fiercely on the pitch.
Meanwhile, FA Cup betting odds on the upcoming match have already been
published.
