The annual Golden Globes awards, which recognise excellence in filmmaking in
Hollywood and beyond, have become a highly popular novelty betting event in
recent years, mostly thanks to the advent of safe and easy online betting sites.
With the 2012 Golden Globes awards scheduled for Sunday, January 15 at the
Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, internet betting sites -
including top-rated Irish site Paddy Power - are doing a brisk trade in Golden
Globes betting, as fans pick their favourites to win from a multitude of
categories.
Many people have said about this year's Golden Globes that they have not envied
the judging panel (the 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association),
who must certainly have had their work cut out for them trying to pick out
winners from such an unusually high quality crop of films and movie personnel.
Ricky Gervais to Host Golden Globes for Third Year
But while the nominees will no doubt sit white-knuckled and super serious
throughout the live telecast as they wait to see if they are chosen winner or a
left out loser, light relief will no doubt be in abundance throughout the glitzy
and glamorous event due to the welcome return of controversial host, British
satirist Ricky Gervais.
Renowned for poking fun at celebrities and Hollywood in general, this will be
the third time that Gervais hosts the Golden Globes. This will delight of
viewers who love watching him skewer all and asunder with his sharp and cutting
jibes and quips, and scare the pants off those who are at risk of being
skewered.
In fact, one of the most popular Golden Globes betting lines at Paddy Power is
Ricky Gervais' 1st Celeb Insult, which includes such stars and couples as
Russell Brand and Katy Perry, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Justin
Bieber, Steven Spielberg, Guy Ritchie, David and Victoria Beckham, and many
more.
