Queens Park Rangers are all set to host Newcastle United in their English
Premier League match on Sunday, Jan 15 at 1:30 p.m. at St James' Park, and the
current QPR vs Newcastle betting odds are favouring the home side.
Now that highly respected Mark Hughes has been appointed the new manager of QPR,
there seems to be a new hope amongst players and fans alike that the team's
downward spiral will be halted, and its fortunes turned around.
The club has been descending towards the relegation zone recently despite a run
of impressive results at the start of the season. As such, Hughes is expected to
make a string of new signings during the transfer window and has already said
that he has a £20 million budget to spend on new players.
He is reported to be considering Chelsea defender Alex as well as Darren Bent
and Bobby Zamora.
Hughes first match in charge is against Newcastle at St James' Park which
will prove to be a very tough match to win.
Newcastle are currently 7th in the league but only 4 points away from 4th
place in a season that is witnessing a very close battle at the top.
Hughes Has Work to do at QPR
Newcastle's last match was against the defending champions
Manchester United whom they defeated 3-0 in a massive upset.
They will be relishing the arrival of QPR to their home ground
with the idea of gaining another 3 points and continuing their march to a top 4
finish.
Hughes has faced greater challenges in the past. As manager of
Fulham and Blackburn Rovers he took teams that were also sliding down in the
league and built them back up.
He has stated that his target is for a top 6 finish by the end
of next season and pundits think he has a good chance of making it happen.
