It doesn't look the most inspiring of weekends in the Premier League, the top
three should all win with ease, but hopefully there is still some profit to be
made.
It is now very much a three-way fight for the title, with Manchester United
and Tottenham both just a win behind Manchester City at the summit, and an
extremely exciting finish to the season is in store.
Next weekend could prove pivotal in the quest for top honours, United travel
to Arsenal while the other two contenders square-off in Manchester, and it
should be as you were at the time of writing.
It's very hard to see United dropping points at home to Bolton on Saturday,
likewise Spurs when they host Wolves, and, while City might not have it all
their own way at the DW Stadium against Wigan, Roberto Mancini's men should be
able to collect the maximum haul, too.
There's no value to be found in that trio of fixtures but the lesser profile
games in the English top flight over the coming days are competitive and the
clash at Ewood Park catches my eye.
Blackburn shocked the football world when becoming the biggest ever priced
winners of a Premier League match with victory at Old Trafford on New Year's Eve
and, while they failed to follow up against Stoke last time out, the visit of
Fulham represents a decent opportunity to get back on track.
The win against the Red Devils, a remarkable 3-2 triumph, gave Blackburn
renewed hope of survival, Steve Kean more breathing space, too, and Blackburn
should be targeting victory on Saturday.
While still rooted to the foot of the table there have been signs in recent
weeks that Rovers might just be able to pull of the great escape, a 1-1 draw at
Anfield was well deserved, and Kean's men are just one victory adrift of safety
at present.
Blackburn entertain a Fulham team that remain fairly woeful on their travels
and their 2-1 win at home to Arsenal last time out flattered Martin Jol and his
players.
Quite how Arsenal lost that match is anyone's guess, the Gunners led until
late on, and it is still just one away win all season for the Dutchman, a 2-0
success at Wigan.
With the Blackburn crowd, perhaps, more supportive in light of recent results
they are taken to roar their team to victory and, at odds against in the draw no
bet market the home team represent value.
Blackburn's inability to finish the job off means I want my money back if
it's a stalemate but they are more than capable of raising their game and will
need to do so in the coming weeks if they are to beat the drop.
