The Arsenal vs. Manchester United English Premier League match will be
played on Sunday, Jan 22 at 4:00 p.m. at the Emirates Stadium in London,
England.
The bad news for Arsenal is that it looks like the French legend Thierry
Henry won't even be on the bench against Manchester United this Sunday.
The most successful striker in Arsenal history suffered a leg injury during
training and therefore is unlikely to be able to help the club when they host
2nd in the league Manchester United.
At the start of the season Sir Alex Ferguson's side humiliated Arsenal 8-2
inflicting upon them the worst defeat that the club had endured in over 100
years.
There were calls for the Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to step down in the
wake of that and other poor results at the start of the season, but after making
several new signings towards the end of the transfer window, Arsenal were able
to get back on track.
Manchester United have been getting the worst of their Manchester rivalry
with the City and currently sit 3 points behind their rivals and firmly in 2nd
place. A win against Arsenal would certainly give them the boost they need.
It has been a long time since Arsenal were the bookies favourite against
Manchester United with them only winning 1 of their last 5 meetings.
Wenger Can't Rely on Henry to Beat Manchester United
The home ground advantage will provide a major boost to an
Arsenal side who need every advantage that they can lay their hands on.
With that in mind, the impressive form that Robin Van Persie has
been in so far this season should not be ignored. The skill shown by the
Dutchman has almost single-handedly kept Arsenal in the race for a coveted
Champions League place next season.
Mirroring the return to Arsenal of the legendary Thierry Henry
is Manchester United's Paul Scholes, who has come out of retirement to help out
the team he grew up in.
The top of the English Premier League is so tight at the moment
that no team can afford to drop points. Arsenal have lost their last two matches
and they'll be especially hungry to repay the beating they received at the start
of the season.
Despite this, Arsenal are clearly the weaker of the two sides
and if Manchester United want to overcome Manchester City then this game could
be crucial for them.
