This weekend's EuroMillions lottery was won by a single ticketholder in the
UK, who will pocket almost £41 million once his ticket has been confirmed the
winner by UK National Lottery operator, Camelot.
The lucky winner - who's name has not yet been made public - was the only
player out of the hundreds and thousands of lotto fans across Europe and the UK
who matched the correct numbers for Friday's EuroMillions draw.
Winning EuroMillions Lottery Numbers
The winning EuroMillions numbers were 02 - 10 - 22 - 27 and 28, while the
Lucky Star numbers were 6 and 8.
The jackpot for the rollover EuroMillions lottery was £40,627,231, and the
player will have this entire sum transferred after his ticket has been verified
today. There are no taxes on lottery wins in the UK.
"Subject to validation, the prize could be paid out when the banks open on
Monday," said a spokesman for Camelot regarding the
UK player who won the
EuroMillions jackpot this weekend.
"The winner can then decide whether or not to go public and share their
news."
The potential winner will join thousands of others who have become instant
millionaires since the National Lottery was launched.
"We are looking forward to welcoming the lucky ticketholder to our
millionaires' club which is already over 2,800 strong," said the spokesman.
"This latest win continues the nation's amazing run of luck with big
EuroMillions winners."
UK Players are Big EuroMillions Winners
Indeed, UK players are among the biggest winners of the
EuroMillions lottery which is offered right across Europe in nine different
countries, namely the UK, the Republic of Ireland, Spain, Portugal, France,
Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Austria.
EuroMillions lottery ticket sales from all these countries go into the jackpot
fund, which results in massive sums up for grabs each week.
Once this weekend's winning EuroMillions ticket is confirmed, it
will make the winner the seventh biggest lottery winner in UK history.
In October 2011, a couple, Dave and Angela Dawes pocketed a
stunning £101 million EuroMillions jackpot. Only one year prior to their win, a
UK player - who opted to remain anonymous - won £113 million.
However, the biggest EuroMillions winners from the UK are the
Scottish couple, Colin and Chris Weirs who scooped £131 million in July 2011.
The Daily Mail has pointed out that the new EuroMillions
lottery winner will be richer than the international superstar, Kyle Minogue who
is worth, according to the Forbes list of the world's richest people, 'only' £40
million.
The next EuroMillions draw takes place on Tuesday, January 24th,
with an estimated jackpot of £12 million, which includes the UK Millionaire
Raffle.
