The next round of matches in the English Premier League are scheduled for
Tuesday, January 31 at 8.00 pm, and punters and football fans alike will be
glued to their TVs to watch top ranked teams like Manchester City, Manchester
United, Tottenham and Chelsea do battle.
None of these teams will be facing particularly strong rivals on Tuesday,
however, there is much at stake, because if any of these teams is defeated or
even draws, they could concede a place in the Premier League standings.
League leader Manchester City is playing an away game against Everton at
Goodison Park. Manchester City is only 3 points ahead of Manchester United and
cannot afford to lose this match, because that could mean sharing the top spot.
Manchester United, last season's English Premier League winner, will be
playing Stoke, and they will have the home advantage because the fixture is at
Old Trafford.
The team presently third on the pool table is Tottenham with 46 points and
less than two wins away from Manchester United. Tottenham is playing at their
home ground at White Hart Lane. On Tuesday they'll face Wigan, the team at the
bottom of the standings.
The fourth game is between Chelsea and Swansea at the latter's home ground
Liberty Stadium. Chelsea is in the fourth spot in the English Premier League
standings, and thus have the most catching up to do.
