Manchester United will be yearning for revenge in their English Premier
League showdown against long-time adversaries Liverpool this Saturday (February
11), at Old Trafford.
The famous rivals last clashed at Anfield in their FA Cup match, in a game
that saw Manchester United being knocked out of the prestigious tournament. But
this time around, Manchester United have the home advantage.
The pre-match Manchester United vs. Liverpool banter is
predictably surrounding Luis Suarez's return to the pitch. Liverpool's talented
Uruguayan striker got himself an eight match suspension earlier in the season
for racially abusing Manchester United's captain, Patrice Evra.
He returned in Liverpool's Premier League encounter with Tottenham Spurs and
was immediately given a yellow card for a kick on Scott Parker. Wayne Rooney set
the ball rolling. He Tweeted, "If ref sees that kick from Suarez and books him
for it it should be red."
Former Manchester United player Gary Neville, now an expert with Sky
Sports, also commented that Suarez should have "seen red for the kick".
In the post match press conference Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish refused
to get drawn into the slinging game. He said, "If Gary Neville or Wayne were
standing there and asked me the question I could answer them but I don't think
you can speak for them."
A Liverpool fan responded to the Wayne Tweet by taunting him for the defeat
in the Manchester United vs. Liverpool FA Cup game. Wayne responded by saying
"how u been doing in the league last 20 years kid."
The last time Liverpool has won the Premier League was in the 1989-90 season.
Both teams are coming into this Manchester United vs. Liverpool game with draws
in their previous encounters.
Manchester United had to cede the joint top spot on the table because of
this, but it is still way ahead of Liverpool.
