British lottery players are on a roll! This week, it was announced that yet
another Briton has won the EuroMillions lottery jackpot, bagging him or
herself more than £45 million.
The winner hasn't yet stepped forward to claim their £45,160,170.50 windfall,
so it's not known if it is a single ticket holder or a syndicate. However the
National Lottery is sure that we'll soon know more details.
This is the seventh largest prize ever won in the United Kingdom and comes
only two weeks after Gareth and Catherine Bull from Mansfield won £41 million in
the EuroMillions draw.
"It is fantastic news to have another UK winner so soon after Gareth and
Catherine Bull from Mansfield won £40 million," said a spokesman from Camelot.
"These big draws help raise the £30 million the National Lottery generates for
good causes every week."
The latest £45 million win was the result of a rollover, proving that this is
one of the most lucrative lotteries in the world, with players from the UK
grabbing a large part of the huge wins.
"We look forward to paying out this lucky ticket holder and of course have
the champagne on ice," said the spokesman.
The winning numbers in this week's EuroMillions draw were 3 - 15 - 17 - 28 -
28 and 33, with the Lucky Star numbers 2 and 4.
Becoming a millionaire 45 times over in an instant would make the winner
richer than Hugh Grant, according to the Sunday Times Rich List of 2011.
Play This Weekend's EuroMillions Lottery
This weekend's EuroMillions lottery draw will take place
tonight, Friday, February 10th, and the National Lottery has estimated that the
jackpot is £12 million, including the UK Millionaire Raffle.
All players need to do is select five numbers from one to fifty
and two Lucky Stars from one to eleven. To win the jackpot, players must match
five numbers and two Lucky Stars.
Players from the UK have proven to be extremely lucky in past
EuroMillions draws, despite the fact that tickets are sold in nine different
countries, including Austria, Belgium, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal,
Spain and Switzerland.
Also, the sum won by UK players has grown significantly over the
years. It was only in 2007 that the biggest lottery winner in the UK won 'only'
£35 million, and since then the jackpot sizes have increased to giant
proportions.
The biggest ever EuroMillions jackpot prize was won by a UK
couple from Ayrshire, Colin and Christine Weir, who pocketed an eye-watering
£161 million last July, putting them in the same wealth bracket as David and
Victoria Beckham.
