There are ten contestants left standing in American Idol 2012, after Jermaine
Jones was disqualified for having a criminal record, which means this popular TV
contest is hotting up in the betting stakes.
Despite a shaky performance, 16-year-old Jessica Sanchez is still the
American Idol 2012 betting favourite at bookmakers to win the competition.
After singing 'Turn the Beat Around' by Gloria Estefan in the March 14th
"Year you were Born" night, the judges didn't give the teen their usual praise
and she didn't earn a standing ovation.
Judge Steven Tyler told Sanchez: "I love your voice, but you can't stray too
far from what I think you sing the best, which is a ballad, and I don't think
you should stray too far from that."
These sentiments were echoed by the other judges Jennifer Lopez and Randy
Jackson, who, instead, were wowed by sixth favourite Joshua Ledet's rendition of
Michael Bolton's 'When a Man Loves a Woman'.
Phillips Threatens Sanchez's American Idol Favourite Status
Jessica Sanchez will need to give more than mediocre
performances if she wants to beat second favourite Phillip Phillips who is
breathing down her neck on the odds tables.
Irish online sports betting and novelty wagering site, Paddy
Power has given Phillips odds of 7/4, behind Sanchez's 11/4, to be the outright
winner of American Idol 2012.
Although Sanchez is the American Idol betting favourite,
Phillips has already won the hearts of America, not only because of his
wonderful voice, but also because of his tear-jerking personal tale. This week
it emerged that Phillips' parents are so poor that they cannot afford to fly
from their hometown in Georgia to support him when he performs live in
Hollywood.
Apparently, the good citizens of his hometown, Leesburg, are
banding together to raise money to send the family to LA to applaud their son
from the live audience area.
In true American Idol betting manner, it should be remembered
that these woeful tales are enough to get Americans to vote for Phillips without
even liking his voice.
