After an exciting season of top talent, American Idol 2012 has been whittled
down to just four contestants, with the ultimate winner to be revealed in the
next few weeks.
This weekend saw Skylar Laine eliminated from the TV singing competition,
leaving just Phillip Phillips, Jessica Sanchez, Hollie Cavanaugh and Joshua
Ledet still in the running.
Let's take a closer look at the remaining contestants and how they fare at
popular online bookmakers in terms of American Idol 2012 betting lines and odds:
Phillip Phillips
This 21-year-old singer is the favourite at UK bookies to win American Idol
2012, with odds of 4/5. The Georgian native has been praised for his
uniqueness, with the judges telling him: "We desperately need originality on
this show. I would sign this guy on the spot."
The only finalist who has never made it to the bottom three, Phillips stands
a good chance of winning the American Idol title this year.
Jessica Sanchez
This 16-year-old wunderkind of Filipino and Mexican-American heritage has
captured the hearts of Idol fans and is second in line to win, according to UK
bookies. Her odds are currently 15/8 at Ladbrokes, a leading UK bookmaker and
gambling operator.
Jessica Sanchez received a standing ovation for her performance of "I Will
Always Love You" by Whitney Houston and Idol mentor Jimmy Iovine said that she
has "talent from A to Z".
Ledet and Cavanaugh Still in Idols Race
The other two contestants left standing in American Idol, Joshua Ledet and
Hollie Cavanaugh, have less chance of winning, according to Ladbrokes online
sports betting group.
Joshua Ledet
The 19-year-old gospel singer carries odds of 4/1 to win the competition and
is considered one of the best singers of the competition. However, not everyone
is drawn to Joshua Ledet's style, which is still largely undefined, even at this
late stage of the competition.
Hollie Cavanaugh
Most feel that Hollie Cavanaugh doesn't have what it takes to go the final
distance in American Idol and Ladbrokes' 20/1 odds reflect this. Even so, the
youngster, who was declared a 'dark horse' by judge Randy Jackson, has a
fighting spirit which could help her advance a little bit further.
Odds for American Idols 2012 at Ladbrokes
To summarise, for punters who want to bet on final four
American Idol contestants, the odds on the outright winner for the
competition at Ladbrokes online betting site are as follows:
Phillip Phillips - 4/5
Jessica Sanchez - 15/8
Joshua Ledet - 4/1
Hollie Cavanaugh - 20/1
