Seventy million Americans voted recently on the latest finalist to leave the
American Idol 2012 stage, leaving just three contestants in the running.
Eighteen-year-old Hollie Cavanaugh was voted off just days before what is
considered the highlight of every contestant's journey in this competition -
their hometown visit.
Instead of the private jet and limo driving her through her town and visiting
her school, which the other three contestants will enjoy this week, Cavanaugh
was sent home. Her two takes on Journey's 'Faithfully' and Bonnie Rait's 'I
Can't Make You Love Me' on Wednesday failed to get her into the final stage of
the competition.
The three singers left in American Idol 2012 are thus bookie favourite
Phillip Phillips, Jessica Sanchez and Joshua Ledet.
As a result, odds on the American Idol 2012 finalists narrowed at UK
bookmakers, as the competition reaches its last leg.
Three American Idol 2012 Finalists
Pawn shop worker, Phillip Phillips of Leesburg, Georgia, is the favourite to
win the competition, impressing judges and viewers week after week with his
bluesy style.
Considered a tough rival is 16 year old pop diva Jessica Sanchez of San
Diego, while 20 year old Joshua Ledet's gospel style has also kept him this
long in the competition.
In an interview, Cavanaugh highlighted some of the things she loved about the
remaining contestants.
Speaking about Joshua Ledet, she said that "his voice is like from, I don't
even know. I don't think he's human. It's just ridiculous what he can do with
his voice. He sings Whitney Houston songs in the original key. He's amazing and
he's going to be huge in the music industry."
Cavanaugh said that Phillips' voice is "very unique and has its own style."
"All the girls are really obsessed with him and he's really charming," she
said. "He doesn't just come off like that on TV. He's just a really humble
person and has amazing music talent."
Cavanaugh predicted big things for Jessica Sanchez. "She's just amazing.
She'll be a legend, as well as the other two."
