Soccer widows are women who have to cope with the temporary death
of their relationship while their husbands focus all their attention on
football. But for one such soccer widow who did her her "grieving" at Ladbrokes
online bingo site, she couldn't believe her luck when she won a whopping £1.3
million jackpot.
For the millions of women around the world currently bemoaning the fact that
their partners aren't giving them the light of day because of the Euro 2012
soccer tournament, they can now look to 33-year-old online bingo fan Lisa Potter
from Oxfordshire for inspiration.
With her husband dully ensconced in last Thursday's Spain vs Ireland Euro 2012
matchup, a fed up Lisa logged onto the Ladbrokes online bingo site intent on
playing a few choice bingo games.
And when she noticed a large online bingo jackpot rollover game, she decided to
wager the required £5 to put herself in line to win the big prize, never really
believing she had a chance to win.
So imagine her surprise and utter astonishment when her moaning about being a
soccer widow turned into the happiest day of her life as she became an instant
millionaire, winning an incredible £1.3 million.
Spare Moment Turns to Jackpot
Recalling her big win, Lisa said: "I had a spare minute and
wanted to get away from the football so I decided to log on. As soon as I saw
the size of the jackpot I thought it was worth a go, and I couldn't believe my
eyes when it said that I'd won."
"I can't remember much after," she recalled. "It's all a blur.
My kids came into the room and we all started screaming. It's like a madhouse in
here!"
Potter has already made her way to Ladbrokes' offices to pick up
her £1,364,745.23 cheque, which was handed over at a special champagne party.
When asked how she intends spending her windfall, Potter
replied: "We're a normal family so this will change my life forever. The first
thing we're going to do is buy a new house before treating ourselves."
A new car and a luxury holiday are also on the horizon for the
ecstatic winner.
Ladbrokes Sees 400% Rise in Players
Lisa Potter wasn't the only woman who opted to visit Ladbrokes Bingo and
other online casino sites during the Euro 2012 while their partners are glued to
the TV.
Ladbrokes reported that it had seen a staggering upturn of 400% of women
playing bingo during Euro 2012 matches.
The group congratulated the soccer widow for scooping the Ladbrokes
jackpot - the third biggest prize in the game's history.
"We're absolutely over the moon for her," said Alex Donahue, speaking for
Ladbrokes. "It's one of the biggest wins of all time and we've sent the champers
along to kick off the celebrations."
"We bet she'll never moan at her man for watching the footie ever again," he
quipped.
