To mark the opening of the 2012 Olympic Games in London, the National Lottery
is planning to make a whopping 100 UK players instant millionaires next week.
The special draw will take place to coincide with the opening of the Olympics
on Friday, July 27th, as part of the EuroMillions UK Millionaire Raffle.
All players need to do is purchase their EuroMillions ticket for the Friday,
July 27th draw, and for every line they purchase, they'll receive automatic
entry into the UK Millionaire Raffle.
To beat the rush and be part of this amazing draw, players can purchase their
tickets in advance. With all the excitement of the London Olympics, players
won't be blamed for perhaps forgetting to buy lottery tickets, and this is a
reminder to be part of the action ahead of time.
Tickets for the 100 new UK lottery millionaires draw can be purchased
online, through a mobile phone or in store.
National Lottery Takes to the Road
The promote the special draw next week, the National Lottery took to the road
across the country in a special promotion tour.
Shoppers in Sunderland, for example, were visited by the National Lottery
team and got a taste of what it would feel like to become instant millionaires.
New "millionaires" were presented with the massive winning cheque that is
associated with instant wealth, and their picture was taken by the "paparazzi".
All the while, champagne was being sprayed and crowds were going wild.
To hit home the message, the National Lottery took (real) past winners,
Michael and Normal Eggelston, around to speak to the crowds and encourage them
to buy tickets for next Friday's draw.
The couple won £2.7 million in March 2007 and said that it took them two
years to finally become accustomed to their new wealth.
One of the most profound changes was the fact that Michael, who has a heart
problem, was able to come off the NHS waiting list and get private treatment for
a bypass. "I had been on a waiting list for 12 years. I could have been dead on
that waiting list," he said. "That was a really big thing from winning the
money."
£79 Million Up Euromillions Prize Tonight
In the meantime, players shouldn't forget that tonight's EuroMillions prize
is a whopping £79 million, including the UK Millionaire Raffle.
The big prize is the result of multiple rollovers week after week, and the
National Lottery is hoping someone will grab the top prize tonight as a
celebratory salute to Olympics excitement.
