Bwin sportsbetting firm has become an official sponsor of Manchester United
football team. The top league UK football team signed a partnership deal with
Bwin and as a result expanded the firm's international sponsorship portfolio.
Bwin has signed the deal that will see it being the official betting and
gaming partner for the English Premier League football team and is set to cover
Manchester United's 2012/13 season.
Betfair is stepping down as Manchester United's sponsor in this field and
Bwin is now taking over after a successful partnership between Betfair and the
Red Devils for the past three years. Prior to that sponsorship deal, Betfred
held this coveted role.
Manchester United's Sponsorship Deals
Manchester United FC has a full sponsorship deal signed up with the following
companies already paying millions of pounds to have their brands associated with
the 19-time domestic winner's name:
- AON insurance signed a £20m a-year shirt deal
- Nike is paying £23.5m a year for a kit supply deal
- DHL is paying a £10.5m for the honour of sponsoring a training kit
The partnership deal between Bwin and Manchester United includes perimeter
board signage and the right to use the football team's logo in the sportsbetting
company's marketing activity.
A message on the Manchester United's website read: "Two giants in the world
of sports coming together to start an enthralling partnership. From now on, bwin
is Official Online Gaming and Betting Partner of English record-holders
Manchester United!"
Bwin produced their own statement about the new partnership, stating that
"with Manchester United, bwin.com has enlarged its international sponsorship
portfolio."
"As the official online gaming and betting partner, bwin.com has numerous
online sponsoring rights, which fit perfectly with bwin.com products. Manchester
United is famous for its international fan community. The club has more than 25
million friends on Facebook and over 200 official fan communities in 24
countries," continued the statement.
Alex Ferguson Speaks about Team's Future
Manchester United have not had an amazing season and ended up without any
trophies. This however, did not stop great sponsorship deals and the team's
leadership do not seem too concerned.
In a recent interview about the future of Manchester United, Sir Alex
Ferguson, the team's boss, said that he is confident that when the times comes
for his retirement, his replacement will have an easy job because of the solid
foundations he has laid for the club.
He said that he had no doubt that the team are heading back to the top.
