British Drivers At Hungary F1 Grand Prix

by Renee Israel

Button Winner Of 2011 Hungary Grand Prix

With half the races still to go this season, talented British Formula 1 drivers Lewis Hamilton and Jensen Button each spoke about their chances in Sunday's 2012 Hungary F1 Grand Prix in Budapest.

Neither Hamilton or Button are at the top of this season's F1 standings, but nor are they languishing at the bottom in the Drivers' Championship. Both drive for McLaren. Hamilton is 5th and Button is 7th.

Button and Hamilton Comment on Hungary Grand Prix

The Hungary Formula 1 has a special place in Button's heart. He won his first Grand Prix there in 2006. His 200th Formula 1 race also happened in Hungary in 2011, which he also won after being 3rd in the qualifying.

Button said, "I celebrated my 200th Grand Prix there on the Saturday evening with some of my oldest friends and colleagues in the paddock and I went on to win the Grand Prix on Sunday." He finished second in the German Grand Prix last week, and is happy to race back-to-back weekends because he can carry forward the positive momentum.

Hamilton also has two Hungary Formula 1 wins under his belt. The first win was in 2007 and the second one was in 2009. Last year he qualified in 2nd position ahead of team mate Button, but finished 4th. Hamilton had a lousy race in Germany, where he had to retire. But he is confident of doing well in Hungary.

He admitted in a recent interview that everyone in the McLaren team feels that they are at a turning point. The cars are delivering the required pace after the upgrade and the pits stop strategy is spot on.

Online Betting at Hungary Formula 1

The handicappers at the online betting sites do not share the same enthusiasm about the chances for Hamilton and Button. Bet365 online has posted odds for the outright winner of the Hungary Formula 1. The shortest odds of 11/4 are for Fernando Alonso, who is leading in the Drivers' Championship so far.

He is followed by last year's champion Sebastian Vettel with odds of 3/1. Hamilton is next with odds of 5/1 and Button and Mark Webber are fourth with odds of 9/1.

British punters who want to place a bet on their countrymen winning the Drivers' Championships will also find odds at Bet365 online. Hamilton has odds of 11/1 and Button has odds of 40/1. The odds for the top three are as follows.

2012 Hungarian Grand Prix Odds at Bet365
