The National Lottery was thrilled to announce yesterday that yet another
Brit has won the EuroMillions jackpot, after Friday evening's draw.
Europe's biggest lottery attracted a record breaking number of players from
multiple countries, attracted to the huge rollover jackpot up for grabs this
weekend.
However, once again, it was a UK lottery player who took home the booty by
winning a staggering £148.6 million - the second biggest payout in the draw
ever.
The prize came just behind the £161 million won by the North Ayrshire couple,
Colin and Chris Weir in July last year, and only missed reaching this amount due
to fluctuating exchange rates.
The winner came forward soon after the EuroMillions draw and the National
Lottery is now validating the winning numbers of 11, 17, 21, 48, 50 and Lucky
Stars 9 and 10.
The validation process takes several days, and the prize could be paid out by
Monday, according to the National Lottery. The winner has still not decided
whether or not to go public with the win.
Seventh UK EuroMillions this Year
British players of the EuroMillions jackpot are among the luckiest in all of
Europe.
"It's amazing to have another big EuroMillions win in the UK - the seventh
jackpot to be won here this year," said a spokeswoman for the National Lottery.
"We are looking forward to welcoming the ticket holder into our millionaires
club, joining the 2,900 millionaires created by the National Lottery to date."
The spokeswoman added that in addition to the fantastic run with big winners
in 2012, EuroMillions players are also making a difference to communities across
the United Kingdom and contributing to the £30 million raised each week for
National Lottery Good Causes.
Among UK's 1000 Richest People
The new winner of this weekend's EuroMillions jackpot will be among Britain's
1000 richest people, placing him or her squarely in the middle of the list.

- An anonymous player won £113 million in October 2010.
- Cambridgeshire couple Angela and Dave Dawes won £101 million in October
2011.

January 2012.
- Cassey Carrington and Matt Topham won £45 million in February 2012.
