Two online gambling giants, Playtech and Betfair have signed a new agreement
that will see them collaborate across multiple gaming platforms.
The agreement essentially renews an existing contract for Playtech to provide
Betfair with online casino and bingo content.
In addition, it makes allowances for future collaboration for poker services,
which could indicate the first step in Betfair's departure away from the Ongame
poker network.
The casino and bingo services will be made available through Betfair's
existing online websites and mobile platforms.
Betfair is considered the world's largest online betting exchange and is
licensed by the Government of Gibraltar.
Playtech offers Turnkey Software Solutions
Playtech offers turnkey software solutions for online casinos, including
games, hosting, customer service and transaction management. Its products
include online casino, the industry leading iPoker network, bingo, mobile
gaming, live gaming, fixed odds, Asian games and server supported terminals.
The new Betfair and Playtech contract also states that Betfair will be
able to offer Playtech's online poker package to markets where there is a
demand.
There are already plans for Betfair to collaborate with Playtech to launch a
licensed poker solution in the Spanish gambling market this year. Another will
be made available in Italy after Betfair launches in that market in the coming
months.
Management for both Betfair and Playtech gambling groups commented on the new
contract extension.
Betfair has Strong Relationship with Playtech
"Betfair has built a strong relationship with Playtech over a number of years
and after a full evaluation of the available options, they were the logical
choice for providing us with what we now need," said the Group Operations
Director at Betfair, Ian Chuter.
"This deal allows us to offer a compliant poker solution in markets where
historically we have not been able to and the wider agreement is further
evidence of how serious we are in providing our customers with a high quality
one stop shop for all their betting needs," he added.
The Chief Operating Officer for Playtech, Rafi Ashkenazi also commented on
the agreement and said: "We are delighted to be expanding our successful
relationship with Betfair with the development of bingo and poker services in
addition to casino. The agreement is testament to Playtech's ability to offer a
full suite of market leading online products and we look forward to continuing
to work with Betfair."
