Australia Cricket Betting Preview
One shouldn't discount Australia in the cricket world cup, after all they have won it the last three times in a row. Not only have they won, but they have cruised in with imperious disdain for the opposition. But if one was ever going to bet against them this is the spot to lay the number 1 ranked team in the world.
Clearly bookmakers have the same idea, letting Australia drift to 6/1 on some odds boards. There is good reason for this of course - the team just lost the Ashes on home soil, and they have to play on slow sub-continent wickets without a decent spinner in the squad. By "decent" I mean someone who can actually turn the ball. Without that sort of player it is hard to imagine any team winning this world cup.
Australia restored some pride by beating England comprehensively in their ODI series, but I still feel that the Poms have the better team for this tournament, mainly because they have a quality spinner and seamers who can get reverse swing. Australia's bowling attack is their Achilles' heel in 2011, and although Watson, Ponting, Hussey, and Hadden are dangerous with the bat it won't be enough.
