Bangladesh Cricket Betting Preview

Bangladesh are the newest full member of the ICC to have Test status, and predictably there have been many calls for that honour to be revoked as they had a tendency to lose all their Test and ODIs, badly. But over time this young team has improved a lot and they're probably better than the West Indies and New Zealand (although that isn't saying a lot).

There was a time when Sri Lanka were in the same boat that "The Tigers" are in now, namely the whipping boys for the senior test playing teams. But I'd rather see Pakistan stripped of their status and left to muck out Bangladesh's change rooms since the latter play with heart and honesty, and betting against them on their home ground could be foolish.

Bangaldesh cannot win it all, but on their day they have now shown that they can beat any of the other teams here. In fact, when they recorded an ODI win in England last year they completed their collection of scalps - they have now beaten all the other test playing nations at least once. Granted, those other teams have beaten Bangladesh many more times, but at least their fans will have hope for this world cup tournament.

Bangladesh are likely to progress beyond the group stage, and it will come as no surprise if they finish ahead of some higher ranked ODI nations. They might even make a semi-final, although that seems unlikely. Watch out for Shakib Al Hasan, the best ODI all-rounder that you have never heard of, and the very competent bat of Tamim Iqbal. As soon as these chaps learn how to bowl they'll be dangerous (again, exactly like Sri Lanka in the 1980s).

Prediction And Bangladesh Odds

Will provide some betting shocks, but shouldn't advance beyond the semi-finals.
